Sen. Akbari Applauds Doctors, Nurses after Gov. Lee Issues Stay-at-Home Order
MEMPHIS — Sen. Raumesh Akbari (D-Memphis) issued a statement today thanking doctors and nurses who have called for a stay-at-home order since March 20.
Her statement is included below:
Tennessee owes our doctors and nurses, who advocated relentlessly for a smart, life-saving stay-at-home order, a tremendous amount of gratitude. In addition to risking their lives to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, they used their voices to protect their colleagues, neighbors and communities.
While we are grateful to Gov. Bill Lee for this executive order, it’s time for Tennesseans to come together and provide every frontline worker with the protective equipment and supplies they need to keep hospitals and critical businesses serving our families.
The Senate Democratic caucus wrote a joint letter to Gov. Lee on March 23 calling for his administration “to implement a statewide, two-week ‘safer at home’ order.”
