NASHVILLE — Sen. Brenda Gilmore (D-Nashville) issued a statement Wednesday celebrating the life of David McMurry, a member of the Metropolitan Nashville Convention Center Authority and a beloved advocate for the Madison area.

McMurry, who served on local boards for the Human Rights Campaign, Nashville Pride and Historic Nashville, the Madison-Rivergate Chamber of Commerce and the Nashville LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, died earlier this week.

“David McMurry dedicated countless hours of his life to helping others. He believed deeply in people and the potential of our city,” Sen. Gilmore said. “He was the most committed advocate for Madison, a community that is forever changed by the passion he had for his neighbors and local businesses. He made all of Madison — and Nashville — a better place to live and I join the entire community in celebrating his life.”
