Sen. London Lamar statement on the inauguration of Gov. Bill Lee

NASHVILLE — Sen. London Lamar, chairwoman of the Senate Democratic Caucus, issued a statement today on the inauguration of Gov. Bill Lee.

Sen. London Lamar, D-Memphis:

“If the governor is ready to begin working to improve life for everyday Tennesseans, he’ll find no better partner than Senate Democrats.

“We want to lead the nation in lifting up children and working families. We want to lead the nation in defeating poverty and creating opportunity. We want to lead the nation in seeking justice for all Tennesseans.

“We hope Gov. Lee’s second term is defined by expanding access to affordable health care, housing and child care; strengthening our public schools, our democracy and state services; and a rejection of the extreme partisanship and division that marked his first term.

“There’s so much we can achieve when we work together and focus on solutions to the problems that are plaguing working and middle class families — instead of ideological agendas.”
