President Biden’s American Rescue Plan funding ‘worked,’ Memphis senator says
MEMPHIS — Tennessee Sen. Raumesh Akbari issued a statement congratulating students and educators at Memphis-Shelby County Schools for their achievement on the spring TCAP test.

“Our students and teachers have emerged from the challenges of the pandemic with an incredible academic performance.
“This doesn’t happen by accident! Memphis-Shelby County Schools are trending up because we have tireless and dedicated educators, support staff and district leadership.
“What is also clear is that resources make a huge difference in our student’s classrooms. President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which invested a half billion dollars in our schools, worked to keep students learning and growing against the odds.
“With the foundation Memphis-Shelby County Schools established this year, the direction we are headed is good for our students and great for our community.”
