Sen. Raumesh Akbari town hall to highlight public education
Public forum includes Rep. Karen Camper, Rep. Barbara Cooper and Rep. Torrey Harris
MEMPHIS — Tennessee Sen. Raumesh Akbari will feature public education issues at a community town hall on Wednesday in Whitehaven. Sen. Akbari is looking for feedback from community members about education and other issues impacting the community.
The town hall is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Whitehaven Center at Southwest Community College, 1234 Finley Road.
The Memphis senator will be joined by an official with the Tennessee Department of Education, Rep. Karen Camper, Rep. Barbara Cooper and Rep. Torrey Harris.
“Memphis families are fully engaged on issues affecting our students, teachers and schools,” Sen. Akbari said. “Public education is the key to the success for most families and it is critically important that we’re supporting our schools with the resources they need to be successful.
“Outside of education, we also want to hear your concerns and ideas for strengthening our community,” Sen. Akbari said.
